BBT x BDJ May 2014 Box Winner!

Hey everyone! I didn't want to dedicate a whole new post to the BDJ box winner, but I went ahead anyways 'cause I had a few words to say and didn't feel like cluttering my old giveaway post with a few P.S.'s.

The winner for the 2014 May BDJ box is...

a Rafflecopter giveaway

Congrats Pau-pau!

Pau-pau recently won my Posh Nails Perea giveaway and I was heavily contemplating choosing another winner to "give others a chance." I ended up not manipulating the random selection of Rafflecopter because I think it's a bit unfair to invalidate a perfectly valid entry. It's a random selection and random means anything goes; even repitition. I mean, that's just it: there's no rules to random.

I remember a little incident in my earlier blogging days, when I was heavily supporting this brand. I rigorously joined all their contests because I wanted to win and I didn't mind promoting the brand on my personal accounts, which is part of the mechanics. I had just won a contest, maybe due to the low number of entrants, who knows. I'm not really very lucky :P Anyway, I gave my all into joining this new contest and I, without any arrogance, believe I created the best entry. It had a lot of effort and perfectly illustrated what they were looking for, whereas a lot of the other entries were (no offense) all talk and didn't have a lot of effort to back those words up.

I lost. And honestly, I got so turned off.

It's their brand and they can do whatever they want with it. They're very successful so I don't think they need to be taking customer-relations advice from me. I just feel like it's pointless to keep joining when my first win blacklists me from future contests. I still like and support the brand, but don't even bother keeping up with the tempting contests. Unless it gets so unpopular that people don't join anymore, then maybe they'll be forced to pick me again, haha.

I just don't want people to feel this way with BBT. I try not to interfere with results as much as possible because it breaks my heart to learn how many PR campaigns are predetermined. It's just cruel to real fans and freebie hoarders alike. I know there's not much interest in keeping goodwill with freebie hoarders but are they really that much of a bother that one should drive them away at the cost of genuine fans?

Is it "fair" to disqualify winners in the name of "fairness"?

So what do you think? Did I make the right decision or am I stubbornly making a useless point? Share your thoughts with me, please :)
