The Perfect Apricot: L'Oreal Paris Color Riche Moist Matte in C501 Crayon Sunset

I'm a huge fan of bold lippies but I also appreciate the barely-there shades. Sometimes I feel like wearing lipsticks that almost blend with my facial skin color, but are still colored and not completely nude.

These are HARD TO FIND.

My biggest asset with bold colors has also been my biggest problem with barely-there shades: fair skin. While it provides great contrast with strong colors, it's so hard to find a lipstick that won't contrast a lot with my skin tone. The sliiiightest tinge of pigment shows up so strongly.

Furthermore, pale shades often appear eihter frosty, concealery or sheer against my own lip color. That's why I nearly cried with joy when I found L'Oreal Paris Color Riche Moist Matte in C501 Crayon Sunset during the Miss Manga launch. I have been looking for a pale apricot shade like this for almost a year now!

Price:

Php 625 / 4.2g currently at Php 400 for the Great L'Oreal Sale (extended 'til June 30, 2015.) L'Oreal Paris Philippines is available in most beauty department stores and drugstores.

Product Description:

C501 Crayon Sunset (L-R:) one, two and three swipes
The L'Oreal Paris Color Riche Moist Matte in C501 Crayon Sunset is a pale apricot. It is siliconey but buildable. It tends to streak but is easy to apply.

The photo is a bit saturated, the colors are not as rosy as they appear here.

Performance:

Despite being matte, this has considerably poor wear as it begins to crack and separate at about 4-6 hours. It has a strange reaction to moisture and saliva in that the layer of lipstick seems to swell and bunch up, leaving a patchy sheet of skin-like bits of color on my lips.

It doesn't stain and chips away unevenly with meals.

On the plus side, it doesn't feel dry on the lips.

Edge:

The perfect pale apricot.

Yes. Please don't phase this out, L'Oreal Philippines!

Beauty by Tellie score: 3.5 / 5 - perfect color achieved by a lacklustre formula

This was difficult to grade. It's a 2 forumula-wise but a 5 color-wise. I can't stress enough how difficult it is to find a color that interacts like this with my facial and lip coloring... I just wish it wore down better. It looks really bad once it starts to disintegrate and gives me anxiety whenever I wear it out for too long.

P.S. Before you question my color perception, I'd like to apologize for the photos. The swatches and product translate a bit rosier than it really is. It is a bit more yellow in real life but I couldn't figure out what was going on.

I was given a Php 2000 GC during the Miss Manga launch to spend at the swag counter. Items were at special price and I got this lipstick for 400 or 300 Manga Monies, I can't recall.
